As a result of COVID-19, more than 50 million people across America, including 17 million children, faced hunger. Many families across America did not qualify for federal nutrition programs and had to rely on their local food banks and other hunger relief organisations for support. In QBE’s North American division, QBE and their employees, supported Feeding America® to assist in combating hunger and malnutrition. This was a struggle experienced nationwide as communities across the country, rural and suburban, were affected by food insecurity.
With QBE’s support, meals were provided to 1 million people in America facing hunger. This provided multiple communities across America access to basic services and assisted individuals and families through the COVID-19 pandemic and other natural disasters.
QBE employees also donated more than $30,000 to Feeding America, which was matched by the QBE foundation. In 2021 Feeding America became one of QBE North America’s cornerstone partners. Feeding America ensures that vulnerable communities have equal rights to economic resources including access to basic services such as food, aligning closely with UN SDG 1, No Poverty.
