Small Changes

In 2024, QBE Foundation supported Small Changes in Malaysia, funding two projects, Sparks the Flame and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Sparks the Flame is a pioneering pilot project aimed at transforming lives and igniting potential among indigenous communities in Malaysia. This initiative took place at a secluded school of SK RPS Pos Kemar Gerik, and benefitted 55 Orang Asli students.

Spark The Flame is dedicated to providing equal opportunities for quality education, regardless of race, age, or financial background. Financial literacy was an essential part of the camp's curriculum. Students were introduced to fundamental concepts such as saving strategies, the basics of cash flow, etc.  By focusing on these foundational skills, the program sought to empower young participants with the knowledge needed to develop good financial habits for their future.

Through the program, Small Changes has worked to bridge the educational gap and empower individuals, ensuring that everyone has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society.

The Pursuit of Happiness is a continuation of Small Change’s flagship project known as Seeds of Deeds which targets high school students from low-income family. The program was completed in 2024 at SMK Kuala Kubu Baru, benefitting 40 underprivileged children.

The camp is anchored by three core pillars: Future Pathway, Mental Wellbeing, and Team Synergy. The program’s mission is supported by two crucial enablers: English Proficiency, which facilitates clear communication and collaboration, and Digitalisation, which integrates modern technologies to enhance the learning experience. Together, these components form a comprehensive framework that prepares the students to navigate challenges and seize opportunities in their lives.
