At QBE, we’re driven by our purpose of enabling a more resilient future, which includes the future of our people.

We’re building momentum to achieve something significant and know our people are at the centre of our success. As part of the QBE team, you’ll spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind. And our international scale means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact.

What if we could all have a positive impact — at work and in the world?

At QBE, you can. Let’s make it happen.

Why choose QBE's Graduate Program?

#3 in Australia

Our graduate program was voted #3 in Australia for medium sized programs in the AAGE Top Graduate Employers list for 2024, the same year we launched our inaugural New Zealand graduate program. We are proud of this achievement as the ranking was determined solely on feedback from current graduates.

Transition from university to the corporate world

We know that starting your first corporate role can be daunting, which is why we spend the first week of your graduate program together as a graduate cohort in Sydney, Australia. During induction week, we focus on building connections and a sense of belonging at QBE to support the transition from university to the corporate world. With this foundation and the support network provided to our graduates, you will be ready to start in your first rotation team from week two.

Your learning and development

Joining a graduate program should accelerate your early career learning and development. This is why your development journey as a QBE graduate provides you with a mixture of classroom style training, full-day practical development days, curated digital learning, and endless networking opportunities specifically for graduates.

All learning and development you complete as part of the graduate program is designed around critical skills for now and the future, building resilience for your career.

Our Graduate Program structure

Our annual Australia and New Zealand graduate intake is typically between 20 and 25 graduates per year, 2 of which are based in Auckland. This creates a tight graduate community, whilst still offering a platform for all graduates to excel as individuals.

As a graduate based in Auckland, you will experience different teams, called ‘rotations’, over an 18-month graduate program in addition to the structured learning and development detailed above. These rotations will offer you the chance to network and build vast knowledge, accelerating your early career.

Insurance Underwriting

In New Zealand, our graduate program focuses on insurance underwriting, which is an important and complex role within our business. Before an insurance policy is issued, we first need to carefully assess the risk and then price the policy accordingly. This process can be extremely technical, working across many industries and business types, and is known as underwriting.
