NSW Ambulance and QBE named Innovation champions at icare awards
NSW Ambulance (NSWA) and QBE have been recognised for their Exercise Rehabilitation Therapy for Mental Health Program at the icare IfNSW Awards, taking home two accolades for their work on the program.
The innovative program, developed in partnership between NSWA and the insurer was awarded both the General-claims Risk-innovation and People’s Choice awards at a ceremony yesterday.
The awards recognise standout performers in the NSW Government risk management and health & safety arena who are delivering positive outcomes for the people, businesses and agencies of NSW.
Vivek Bhatia, QBE’s Chief Executive Officer, Australia and New Zealand, said the award-winning program was a fantastic example of using innovation to minimise and mitigate risks and the results were a credit to both NSWA and the QBE team.
“Often frontline emergency service workers are at heightened risk of suffering from the situations that they attend.
“To help minimise the impact of mental stress on these workers and to curtail the ever-increasing costs – QBE and NSWA partnered with Guardian Exercise Rehab to develop an innovative exercise therapy program to complement traditional therapies.
“Although the team are still in early stages of the program and analysis, immediate findings have identified the program has had an immediate impact and improved physical, psychological and psychosocial health markers.
“These are fantastic results and we are thrilled to be to recognised alongside our partners on this ground-breaking initiative – congratulations to all involved.”
Winners were announced at the at the Sydney International Convention Centre at a ceremony last night as part of the Insurance for NSW Conference.
