The Beach Club Collaroy

QBE assesses all claims on a case by case basis on merit against the coverage provided under the specific policy. We've taken the same approach in this case and carefully considered the specifics of this claim as well as all the technical expert information provided to us by hydrologists and engineers. Our assessment showed the damage caused to the club falls outside the scope of the terms of cover and so we've declined this claim.

We understand this is a difficult decision for the Club however the policy taken out by the Club clearly excludes this type of damage.

As a good faith initiative QBE funded more than $95,000 in urgent make safe repairs for the Club when the damage occurred. 

We have made this contribution even though the majority of these costs wouldn't have otherwise been claimable.
