In 2021, QBE joined UNICEF Australia, Parents At Work, and our fellow founding partners to launch the National Work + Family Standards.
The Standards provide employers with best practice and frameworks to build family-friendly workplace cultures and, excitingly, we were one of the first to be certified in line with them.
Share the Care – our gender-neutral, flexible paid parental leave policy
Launched in March 2019, QBE led the way as the first general insurer in Australia and New Zealand to launch a gender-neutral parental leave policy, named Share the Care. Our aim is to disrupt stereotypes and mainstream caring and flexibility for all parents.
“To be able to be there in those early months for my wife and daughter, more than normally would have been the case, was such an incredible privilege. Even after taking full advantage of the Share the Care initiative, I still can’t believe how fortunate we are to have this fantastic opportunity.” – People Leader New Zealand
We provide a range of leave options and support pathways, including flexible leave, early pregnancy loss leave, and 18 weeks of paid parental leave.
Family-friendly employee benefits
Our flexible leave offering acknowledges the diversity of all family dynamics and life stages, including recognising our fur family members, catering for elite sporting events for athletes, graduation ceremonies, plus a range of family planning support and treatment options.
