A decade and counting for QBE and NSW Swifts
QBE Insurance recently celebrated 10 years as the principal partners with the NSW Swifts, hosting members of the 2008 Premiership-winning team in Sydney last week.
The event, which was hosted by Liz Ellis AO and doubled as the Club’s 2018 Season Launch, took place at QBE’s Sydney Office and was attended by legends of the Swifts – past and present – to mark 10 years since the Club’s premiership title.
It also acknowledged some former players who were part of the Club’s success through the years.
QBE also announced that it signed the Swifts for another three years, increasing its commitment to the team and the wider netball community.
The past decade has been one of successful partnership for both parties. QBE onboarded the Swifts in 2008, when the team changed from the Sydney Swifts to the NSW Swifts ahead of the 2008 Trans-Tasman Netball Championship, and the relationship has grown since.
The Swifts claimed the 2008 Premiership and went on to contest two further Grand Finals (2015 & 2016) before the advent of the all-Australian Suncorp Super Netball competition in 2017.
And with a new generation of Swifts players ready to return the Club to Finals Netball for the first time since 2016, QBE is proud to continue to offer its long-standing support.
“Over the course of the last 10 years, the NSW Swifts have become one of the most respected teams in Australian sport, but we would not have been able to achieve this without the outstanding support of our partners,” Carolyn Campbell, CEO of Netball NSW, said.
“As our Principal Partner over the last decade, QBE Insurance has been at the forefront of this support and their investment has helped the Club, and the sport of netball, grow and flourish.
“There is a lot of talk in the media about the rise of women in sport, which is great, and netball – along with its key supporters – has led the charge for a long time.
“QBE Insurance has been one of those key supporters for over 10 years now and was supporting women in sport from the very beginning. For that we will be forever grateful.
“The sports market in Australia, and particularly NSW, is one of the most competitive in the world and we are delighted to have QBE Insurance back on board for another three years.
“We have had great success in the past and look forward to adding to this in the coming years.”
Bettina Pidcock, Chief Customer Officer – QBE Australia & New Zealand, said the organisation was delighted to continue its relationship with the NSW Swifts.
“QBE is proud to be one of the early advocates of women in sport in Australia,” she said.
“We’ve partnered with the Swifts for ten years now. We’re excited to continue this partnership and have renewed our commitment to the Swifts for another three years.”
The NSW Swifts will open their 2018 Suncorp Super Netball campaign against the Queensland Firebirds in a Round 1 Double Header Blockbuster at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday, April 29.
