QBE to help partners manage injury risk with wearable technology agreement
QBE Australia today announced that it has entered into an agreement with technology provider dorsaVi that will provide access for QBE’s broker network and their mutual customers to use the dorsaVi wearable sensor technology to help manage risks to workers.
dorsaVi’s on-body sensors will be used in real time and real work environments to monitor and measure movement and muscle activity, quantify movement risk and guide decision making on appropriate risk mitigating strategies.
Rob Kosova, QBE Australia General Manager People Risk, said the agreement allows QBE, in partnership with brokers, to support the use of the wearable technology to more customers around Australia.
“Wearable technology allows for the monitoring of activity in the real world – where it really matters. Sensors can track, analyse and report on movement throughout the day in real time. This technology will allow customers to better predict, manage and reduce the likelihood and consequence of musculoskeletal injuries in the workplace.
“We’re excited to be working with dorsaVi, who for over a decade now have delivered demonstrated and repeatable results in harm prevention and productivity optimisation where manual handling is involved.
“The physical, emotional and financial costs of injury can be significant. Safe Work Australia puts the total cost of workplace injury and disease at around 4% of GDP and over one third of these are due to body stressing or manual handling. Partnering with dorsaVi is one way we can assist more customers prevent these injuries from happening.
“This agreement is one of a number of collaborations QBE has established and will continue to bring to market, combining data, technology and science to unlock deeper risk, insurance and claims insights and expertise to help make customers’ workplaces safer. All of which reduces harm and increases productivity.”
dorsaVi Chief Executive Officer Dr Andrew Ronchi said: “We are very excited to be working with QBE to provide their clients access to cutting edge technology that will allow them to profile risk more accurately. We look forward to adding value to QBE’s partners and their customers.”
