QBE welcomes North Queensland Stronger Homes Grant Program

QBE Insurance today welcomed the Queensland Government’s announcement of grants of up to $10,000 for homeowners impacted by the recent floods in North Queensland.

The Stronger Homes Grant Program, announced by Queensland Premier David Crisafulli, will help affected homeowners rebuild with greater resilience.

The grants will be made available for eligible homeowners for works such as raising essential services such as switchboards, hot water systems, and air conditioning, as well as fund improvements that can help protect homes from flood damage.

QBE CEO Australia Pacific Sue Houghton said:

“QBE welcomes this announcement from the Queensland Government to support flood-affected homeowners in building back stronger and we look forward to working with the Queensland Government on the program’s implementation. With extreme weather events becoming more frequent, resilience measures like these – which are simple and practical – are critical in reducing future risks.

“Our QBE and Elders teams have been on the ground in North Queensland, working closely with local brokers and agents to support our impacted customers. Our Property Claims team continues to prioritise claim triage and validation, ensuring impacted customers are informed, supported, and can return home as quickly and safely as possible.”
